I found the Kuching nightlife options lacking but Khatulistiwa was the best thing given the conditions. It's a 3 floor modern building on the waterfront (Jl Tunku Abdul Rahman) and the level with the dancefloor has a balcony overlooking the Sarawak river. At the ground level there's a cafe where you can have a nice dinner (we only had a salad for RM10) and on the top floor there are a few pool tables.
